EFDA Certificate Courses
EFDAs in Oregon can now apply for the Local Anesthesia Functions Certificate. The new certificate allows EFDAs who earn the certificate to administer local anesthetic agents and local anesthetic reversal agents under the indirect supervision of a licensed dentist.
To qualify, an EFDA must complete an approved curriculum from a CODA-accredited program or another course approved by the Oregon Board of Dentistry, and then apply for the certificate.

Drilling and Filling is a hands-on introductory course for pre-dental students at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). It offers foundational experience in a simulated clinic setting, focusing on operative dentistry principles, including tooth preparation and direct restorations. Students will learn to use handpieces and basic instruments while preparing typodont teeth with contemporary materials. The course also covers commonly used dental instruments and provides an overview of major dental specialties, highlighting their roles in patient care.

The Oregon Dental Assistants Conference was an exciting collaboration with the Oregon Association of Dental Labs! The event featured a day filled with engaging continuing education courses designed to enhance skills and support professional development.
Participants had the opportunity to dive into the latest trends and practices in the dental field while enjoying a fun and friendly atmosphere. It was a chance to network with fellow dental professionals and share in the joy of creating brighter smiles together. We also had the chance to speak with recent LAFCs, hear their stories, and ask questions.
