Opposition to the Dental Access Model Act
The Oregon Dental Assistants Association (ODAA) supports the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA) and Oregon Dental Hygienists' Association (ODHA) in their opposition to the Dental Access Model Act. The ODAA specifically agrees with the ODHA's reasons for opposing the act, particularly the provision for training dental assistants to become Oral Preventive Assistants (OPAs).
Key concerns include:
Incomplete procedures
Lack of standardized training
Workforce issues
Patient cost and wages
Lack of oversight
Better solutions for workforce shortages
The ODAA emphasizes its partnership with the ODHA and its commitment to quality and safe dental care for all Oregonians.
